More flooding caused by Sunday afternoon rainfall

Another 10 to 15 millimetres of rain is expected to fall today, after rainfall Sunday caused more flooding in Grande Prairie. Starting around 3 p.m., Environment Canada says 19.8 millimetres of rain fell before midnight.

While not as extreme as the flooding that led to a high water level alert on August 2nd, 2day FM listeners reported water pooling in back alleys and several intersections around the city. Most of the problem areas were also affected earlier in the month.

While a few cars needed to be towed after being stranded, emergency services didn’t have to make any major rescues. Most of the flooding was gone by 6 p.m.
