Slope repair to close section of 68 Avenue trail

Slope repair on a trail north of 68 Avenue will close the trail in the area for the next month and a half starting on Friday.

The city says a section of trail north of 68 Avenue on the west side of Bear Creek will remain closed for the foreseeable future so crews can safely complete the work. Some of the work entails removing sections of the asphalt trail and restored to what the city is calling an ‘acceptable gravel surface’ throughout the winter months, with a full repaving taking place next spring.

Residents who use the trail will be forced to detour around the construction site by using the trail between 102 Street and Kateri Drive. Drivers in the area should also be on the lookout for lane restrictions in the area during construction on 68 Avenue westbound, west of the bridge. It’s expected the temporary trail will reopen, weather permitting, in early December.
