UPDATE: The hold and secure is over as of 2:07 p.m.
Derek Taylor Public School has been under hold and secure protocol since sometime before 1:06 p.m. Friday. A hold and secure can be used when there is a security threat or criminal activity is outside or is unrelated to the school.
Classes continue, but exterior doors and windows are locked during this time and no one is allowed in or out of the building. None of the other schools in the neighbourhood are affected.
On Facebook, the school says everyone is safe and in classrooms. Parents are asked not to come to the school until the order is lifted.
