UPDATE: Six vehicles destroyed in Monday morning blaze

UPDATE: The road has reopened to traffic.

UPDATE TWO: The blaze destroyed six vehicles, one commercial and five passenger vehicles. The business was able to continue operations after crews were able to save the building.

A fire east of Wembley that destroyed multiple vehicles resulted in RCMP closing Range Road 74 between Highway 43 and Township Road 720 for several hours on Monday.

Around 9 a.m. crews from the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Services Clairmont and Dunes stations and Sexsmith and Wembley, fire departments responded to a multi-vehicle fire in the area. When they arrived at the scene on Range Road 74 and Township Road 713, they found the fire had spread to a nearby commercial property.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the County Fire Marshal.
