County of Grande Prairie gravel road ban lifts Monday

The road ban on County of Grande Prairie gravel roads will be lifted as of 10 a.m. on May 8th. Lifting the ban means all gravel roads in the region will be 100 per cent axle weight loading, 24 hours a day unless otherwise posted.

The county road ban was put in place during the spring thaw when gravel roads were vulnerable to damage. According to the county road bans are put in place by municipalities across the province to protect infrastructure during things such as construction activities, maintenance or seasonal conditions which including spring thaw.

A road ban remains in place for all City of Grande Prairie gravel roads at 75 per cent axle weight 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
