The evacuation order in place for the Sturgeon Lake Fire Complex has been expanded as dry, hot and windy weather is creating challenges for firefighters on the ground. The mandatory evacuation order is now everyone in the are of Highway 49 and Range Road 222 South to Township Road 700, west to Range Road 240 and north to Township Road 722, including Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
According to Alberta Emergency Alert, the blaze is currently burning out of control west and northwest of Valleyview.
