With temperatures prompting a heat warning from Environment Canada for the Grande Prairie region over the weekend, it’s not hard to believe that Sunday was the hottest July 9th on record.
Sunday’s daytime high, according to the national meteorological service, was 32.2 degrees at the Grande Prairie Airport, a full degree higher than the 31.2 recorded on that day in 2012.
Saturday’s scorching temperatures came close but ultimately fell short of shattering the 1964 record of 31.1 degrees with a recorded high of 29.6 degrees.
