UPDATE: Power restored after a significant outage in Grande Prairie

UPDATE #2: As of 3:30 p.m. Tuesday the ATCO Electric outage map showed power has been restored in the city.

UPDATE: As of 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 11th, the ATCO Electric outage map showed 39 customers without power in the city. According to the utility service website, the customers are in the Hillside area, and electricity is expected to be restored by 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Due to a large power outage, thousands of Grande Prairie residents were without power Monday night. According to the ATCO Electric outage map, as of 10:35 p.m. Monday, 4,217 customers in several communities were affected. The reported communities include Woodgrove, Crystal Landing, Hillside, Cobblestone, Patterson Place, Swanavon, and Westside Park.

As of 11:15 p.m. Monday, a crew had been assigned to the outage. The cause of the power outage is being investigated, and it is still being determined when power will be restored to these customers.
