Northwest Territories evacuees will now be able to access health services at the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre. According to the Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership’s update Thursday night, Alberta Health Services has sent up a Health Hub at the Grande Prairie facility.
Evacuees will be able to access services for mental health, addictions, and public health between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Those not in the Grande Prairie area can access the hub by phone at 780-296-0470 during the same hours.
The friendship centre will also have dinner for evacuees on Saturday and Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
On Sunday, Fort Smith residents were the first to receive an evacuation order, followed by Hay River and the Enterprise and K’Atl’odeeche communities. Wednesday night, an evacuation order was put in place for the City of Yellowknife, Dettah, Ingraham Tail, and N’Dilo.
