City, Downtown Association to hold annual Halloween event

Grande Prairie residents are invited to participate in a family-friendly day of activities ahead of Halloween.

On Saturday, October 28th, the city and the Downtown Association will take over the City Centre for the Annual Halloween Spooktacular. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include a haunted house, Photo Booth, and live children’s entertainment from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Starting at 11 a.m. a costume contest will be held for those from infancy to age 12, that is scheduled to wrap up at 12:30 p.m.

Mayor Jackie Clayton says she is excited the municipality and the DownTown Association can offer a family-friendly event again this year.

“We want to thank the Downtown Association and local businesses who partnered with us to create a fun way for our community to get out together and celebrate this spooky but fun holiday.”

Clayton adds the event will also include an inclusive and safe option for trick-or-treating down 100 Avenue, between 99 and 101 Street, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.

Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Downtown Association, Wendy Bosch, says the fun and spirit kids who participate have during this event is “infectious,” and the day creates a safe environment for families to enjoy.

“Our businesses share a collective desire to give back to our community. It epitomizes the essence of small business values, contributing to our community’s betterment.”

Doors for Halloween Spooktacular open at 10:30 a.m. on October 28th.
