Beaverlodge CAO resigns, hired by Peace River

UPDATE: The Town of Peace River has announced that Chris Parker has accepted the job of CAO. He’ll take over the role in late fall. According to the town, the position appealed to him as he’ll not only be able to work with council, but also stakeholders to improve the town’s reputation.

After just under two years with the Town of Beaverlodge, Chief Administrative Officer Chris Parker is moving on. He’s taken a CAO position at another municipality in Alberta, although where hasn’t been released.

Parker joined the town in November 2013, after spending a couple of years as the CAO for High Prairie. His interim replacement is financial consultant Bill McKennan, who has spent time as acting CAO over his 30 years of municipal experience.

Mayor Leona Hanson says council is saddened by Parker’s departure, but can appreciate this opportunity for him. They’ll decide in the coming weeks how they’ll fill his position permanently.
