10 OPPORTUNITIES FOR TACKLING POVERTY TOGETHER
“Opportunity for All: Tackling Poverty Together” is a year-long initiative led by the City of Grande Prairie in partnership with community organizations and businesses, designed to recognize the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. The program, “10 Opportunities for Tackling Poverty Together,” showcases the efforts of community organizations to combat poverty throughout the year, inviting the community to engage and contribute.

Donate hygiene products to the Family Education Society of Grande Prairie’s Family Resource Network.
The Family Education Society of Grande Prairie’s Family Resource Network provides services for children aged 0 to 18 and their families, focusing on parenting support, child development, and building resilience. To support families through this early intervention model, consider donating hygiene items such as body wash, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, diapers (sizes 3+), or baby wipes.

The Grande Prairie School Snack Program and the Grande Prairie Public School Division’s Nutrition Program aim to relieve child hunger, improve behaviour and academic performance, and promote nutrition education and healthy lifestyle choices. Khwahish Foundation runs a meal delivery program that helps the city’s most vulnerable by using extra food from local businesses, reducing both hunger and food waste. Businesses donate meals, which volunteers collect and deliver to Wapiti House. Volunteers also cook and deliver meals every Saturday. You can help by sponsoring a meal through the Khwahish Foundation.
