The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital will have a new on-site restaurant in 2025 to serve staff and visitors.
According to hospital officials, a contract has been signed to bring in Good Earth Coffeehouse, with the expectation it will open in the facility as early as next spring.
AHS Acting Senior Operating Officer of Nutrition and Food Services, Laundry and Environmental Services Carol Ellendt calls the move a “significant step” in enhancing the overall experience for patients, staff, and visitors at the hospital.
“We are confident that Good Earth Coffeehouse will provide high-quality meal options that meet the diverse needs of the community,” she says.
Officials say Good Earth is a staple in Alberta hospitals, operating at several other AHS facilities across the province. AHS Senior Operating Officer for Grande Prairie Candice Edey says it was important for the hospital to feature an Alberta-based dining option.
“We understand that the wait has been long, and we are committed to bringing a high-quality, Alberta-based dining option to the hospital,” she says. “I appreciate the patience of the community as we worked toward bringing in a restaurant that will offer fresh, healthy meals for staff and visitors.”
The restaurant will be located in the existing cafeteria space, adjacent to the hospital’s main entrance. Officials suggest work to prepare the space will begin in the coming months.
