Sexsmith man wins $100K during October 2nd LOTTO 6/49 draw

A Sexsmith local won big during the LOTTO 6/49 draw on October 2nd thanks to his EXTRA subscription.

Dennis Mulligan says he was sure there was some sort of mistake when someone from the Western Canada Lotteries office called to inform him of his $100,000 prize win.

“I definitely thought it was a scam,” he says. “It wasn’t until the person on the phone started saying my subscription numbers that I started to believe it.”

According to the WCLC, with a subscription, players can purchase lottery selections for up to a year in advance and their numbers are checked on their behalf before calling any winners to inform them of their prize.

Milligan says he has a few ideas for how to spend his money, saying some amount of his winnings will help him finish his bathroom renovation, but the winner also indicates he plans on donating some of his prize to charity.
