NWJHL announces name change following multi-year sponsorship deal with Strike Group

The Northwest Junior Hockey League has announced a league name change after inking a multi-year deal with the Strike Group of Companies as League Sponsor.

The league will be known as the Strike Group NWJHL for the next several years, and officials are saying the long-term corporate working relationship is beneficial as the Strike Group has cemented itself as an oilfield service across western Canada, with offices in several of the league’s home team cities.

“While the Strike Group stretches across the four Western Provinces, the two local offices in Grande Prairie and High Level serve the same business sector and the fan base in Northwest Alberta and Northeast BC as the league reaches to with our 8 member clubs,” NWJHL President Peter Burletoff says.

Strike Group High Level and Grande Prairie Area managers Vlad Kopaev and Glen Bauer agree when they say they are “proud” to be a part of the NWJHL, and are looking forward to a long-standing relationship with the league.

“One of our core values is to support the communities we work and live in, and we feel this relationship with the NWJHL is another opportunity for the Strike Group to carry that out.”

Despite the name change, all eight teams, including the County of Grande Prairie Wheat Kings, Sexsmith Vipers, Beaverlodge Blades, and others will remain within the league.
