County of GP maintains minimal service disruptions for essential mail despite CUPW strike

The County of Grande Prairie is assuring residents that regular county mail with minimal disruptions in service will continue despite the ongoing CUPW strike.

The county maintains all important and urgent items from the county’s offices will be sent via alternative couriers, and municipal departments will make items available for pickup whenever possible.

Each county department is responsible for the handling of mail and is broken down as such.

For accounts payable, vendor and supplier cheques, along with customer invoices will be made available for pickup, and the county will contact those impacted directly. On the agriculture side, invoices to neighbouring municipalities will be dropped off by staff.

The Peace Library System inter-library courier will continue delivering items as normal, while in the FCSS department, all home support clients will be notified regarding making payments over the phone or in person.

Planning and Development staff will be made available to receive permit applications and those with questions can reach out directly by phone.

For emergency services such as Regional Enforcement, dog owners can pick up tags in person at the Community Services Building or the County Administrative Building. For the Regional Fire Service, invoices related to insurance claims will be emailed as required.
