Accessible Transit riders will receive a special gift from the City of Grande Prairie this Christmas, through a unique seasonal initiative.
Registered GPAT customers will have the chance to enjoy free round-trip rides to the Northern Spirit Lightshow at Evergreen Park on December 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st, and 22nd.
The city says each trip will include a drive through the displays followed by a route around town to showcase some of the “most beautifully” decorated homes, starting at 6:00 p.m. on the selected evenings.
Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton says GPAT plays a significant role in connecting those with mobility issues with the rest of the city. She says the initiative will allow residents who would not otherwise get to visit the light show the chance to participate in one of the city’s most popular holiday traditions.
“Providing free transportation to the Northern Spirit Lights Show ensures GPAT customers can enjoy this festive experience while enhancing social connection and community well-being,” she says.
Interested individuals can learn more about the registration process and eligibility for GPAT services on the city’s website.
