Proposed Mountview Health Complex to provide 24/7 Urgent Care after provincial approval

After getting the go-ahead from the Government of Alberta, residents in Beaverlodge and the surrounding area will continue to have 24/7 care available at the new Mountview Health Complex.

The new facility is described as being larger, and more modern, and will continue delivering the critical health services that residents currently receive.

According to officials, the decision to offer 24/7 Urgent Care aligns with the Alberta Health Services’ commitment to reassess clinical services in Beaverlodge after consultation with residents and physicians. This led to the ultimate decision that a 24/7 Urgent Care would be the best option to support the needs of the community.

Doctors at the facility say the 24/7 model allows physicians to practice “full-scope” medicine, that directly benefits patients in their care.

“This directly benefits the patients we treat and supports physician development and
retention,” they say. “We look forward to providing care in a larger, modern facility.”

The Mountview Health Complex is expected to open in 2028 and will be built on 20 acres of land donated to the town by Doris McFarlane, a longtime community member and former nurse.

A town hall is scheduled on December 4th of this year, for residents and officials to engage in conversation, and hear more about what the community thinks of the new development.
