Freezing rain warning issued for much of Grande Prairie region

A freezing rain warning has been issued for much of the Grande Prairie region, and with it, some potentially treacherous highway conditions.

Environment Canada says the freezing rain kicked off this morning Peace River and will impact communities across the County of Grande Prairie including Sexsmith, La Glace, Wembley, Valleyview and DeBolt.

Officials say the freezing rain will end this evening in our region and travel as far east as Cold Lake before tapering off Tuesday morning.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Slow down driving in slippery conditions. Watch for taillights ahead and maintain a safe following distance.
