Some Grande Prairie neighbourhoods experience snow clearing delays, crews to return December 9th

The City of Grande Prairie’s snow crews were unable to finish the residential snow clearing in Week B neighbourhoods originally scheduled for December 3rd, leading to delays in service.

According to the city, crews battled against heavy snowfall and “challenging conditions” on Tuesday, and despite their best efforts, were ultimately unable to complete the work. Officials maintain crews will return on December 9th to complete the work.

Despite the hiccup, residential snow clearing is underway as scheduled in Week B neighbourhoods, including Cobblestone, Fieldbrook, Highland Park, Riverstone, and Smith.

Crews are actively working on priority one routes, with a focus on 100th Street from 116th Avenue to 68th Avenue. Additionally, plows and sanding trucks are working on priority one routes, given yesterday’s snowfall and freezing rain.

Parking lots are also seeing snow removal, specifically those at Towne Centre Mall, the Farmers Market, and the Courthouse.

Parking bans have been implemented in several areas, and residents living in the areas of Pinnacle Ridge and Westpointe are advised a parking restriction will be implemented on December 5th.

Permanent snow route parking restrictions have been activated as well, meaning no parking is allowed on both priority one and two routes, Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. until the ban is lifted.
