Grande Prairie RCMP arrest one for alleged theft of mail

The Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit has arrested one in connection to a mail theft incident that occurred in November.

According to police, on November 15th, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the CRU conducted a traffic stop on 94th Avenue Willow Drive. During the stop, officers identified multiple identity documents and mail belonging to several people who were not the female driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed break-in tools were also in her possession, and were promptly seized by police.

As a result, 44-year-old Grande Prairie resident Vanessa Jordan has been charged with two counts of alleged unlawful possession of identity documents, possession of fraudulent documents, possession of break-in tools, two counts of breach of a probation order, and operating a motor vehicle while suspended.

Jordan has been released by police; however, she will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on December 16th.
