City of GP reminds residents of New Year’s Eve property tax deadline

Grande Prairie property owners are being advised to square away any outstanding payments as the income tax deadline is quickly approaching.

The City of Grande Prairie is reminding property owners to ensure any outstanding balances on property taxes are paid before December 31st, to avoid any additional penalties.

Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, tax reminder letters may not have been received to notify property owners, but the city maintains if any outstanding taxes are unpaid by the deadline, a six per cent penalty will be applied to the total outstanding balance on January 1st of next year.

The city accepts several different payment options for residents including cash, online banking, debit, cheque, money order, or bank draft; however, e-transfers are not accepted.

Residents with questions or concerns regarding their property taxes and deadlines are asked to contact the city Tax Department at (780)-538-0315.
