Grande Prairie region unemployment lowest in province

The economic region which includes Grande Prairie continues to report the lowest unemployment rate in Alberta in December.

According to Statistics Canada, in December 3.7 per cent of people were unemployed in the Banff – Jasper – Rocky Mountain House and Athabasca – Grande Prairie – Peace River region, which is down 0.03 per cent from the previous month and nearly a per cent from the same month the previous year.

Red Deer’s unemployment rate was the highest in the province with 7.6 per cent.

The provincial unemployment rate was down in December compared to November, going from 7.5 per cent to 6.7 per cent. However, the unemployment rate saw a 0.4 per cent increase in December compared to the same month the previous year.
