McSorley gives tips for local young hockey players

Despite the cold weather this past weekend, hundreds of people took part in the Hometown Hockey Tour. NHL Alumni Marty McSorley says attending these tours gives towns a sense of community and lets him meet with young hockey fans. He says the biggest tip he can give them is to have fun and enjoy the game.

“And that’s what this is all about…the young kids that play, celebrating the game, being a fan of the game. I think that’s right up the alley of, not only myself, so many of the alumni guys.”

McSorley says if young hockey players are having fun, they will practice harder, they will be a better teammate and in turn will create a more studious attitude. He also adds you have to develop a fan mentality of the game to be successful. The former Edmonton Oiler says he thinks every NHL player is a fan of the game.

Along with McSorley, other alumni that also attended the event were Clint Malarchuk and Georges Laraque.
