Update: A 26-year old man has been killed in a hunting accident. RCMP say the man was injured by a gunshot wound and died at the scene. They say he has been transported to the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s office. The man was with three others hunting in the Saddle Hills County outside of Spirit River at the time of the death. RCMP continue the investigation.
One person has been killed in a hunting accident near Bonanza. Corporal Laurel Scott with RCMP strategic communications confirmed the fatality happened on January 18th.
That’s all the information she was prepared to release on what’s being referred to as a “sensitive” matter. At this point, we don’t know the age or gender of the victim, or where they are from.
An investigation is underway, but no word yet on whether any charges could be laid. Bonanza is northwest of Grande Prairie, close to the B.C. border.
