NDP moving forward with Bill 6 working groups

The Alberta government will be seeking feedback from residents during the next phase of consultations for Bill 6. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry O’Neil Carlier says six working groups will decide how employment standards, occupational health and safety, and labour relations requirements will be applied to the agricultural sector.

He also says a firm deadline for the recommendations from the working groups has not been set.

“We’re taking the time necessary to make sure we get this right. I’m going to give a lot of leeway to these technical working groups themselves on their work and their process on working around the various needs of those members.”

The first meetings of the working groups will be held in June. Additional information can be found online at the Farm and Ranch Workplace Legislation website.
