Scammers pretending to be STARS Lottery

Yet another scam is circulating around Alberta and this time it involves the STARS lottery. RCMP says people are getting a call from someone who says they’re involved with the lottery.

The victim is told they’re number was randomly selected to win $750,000 and a new vehicle. However, they’re told they need to pay various fees in order to collect their prize.

Anyone who gets a call like this is asked to contact their local police detachment. Residents are also reminded to keep track of what contests they enter, and to remember that by law, you never have to pay anything in order to win a sweepstakes.
