Alberta Health Services has issued a warning about an Edmonton-based tattoo artist who used to operate in Grande Prairie. Anyone who has been tattooed by David Testawich of Noeyez Tattooz is recommended to get tested for viruses that can be spread through unsanitary practices.
Medical Officer of Health for the North Zone Doctor Albert de Villiers says Testawich’s home-based shop did not have proper sterilization processes, so people may have been exposed to Hepatitis B and C, along with HIV. Noeyez Tattooz in Edmonton was ordered to shut down on August 11th, and won’t be allowed to reopen until it follows all regulations.
Testawich operated in private homes in GP until around last November. Anyone who has gotten a tattoo from him or his shop should contact their doctor for a simple, confidential test.
