Santa Claus visiting Grande Prairie for annual parade Sunday

Grande Prairie will be getting into the holiday spirit this weekend with the annual Santa Parade downtown. Starting Sunday at 1 p.m., the floats will start from 102nd Street, and will head east on 100th Avenue.

The procession will take a left on 99th Street and wrap up at 101st Avenue. The parade is weather permitting, but right now it’s looking promising with a forecast high of minus 6 and a chance of snow.

The festivities will continue afterwards at the Grande Prairie Museum. An Old Fashioned Christmas will run from 1:30 to 4:30 with choir performances, gingerbread house judging, storytelling and Aboriginal singing and drumming. Children can try their hand at speaking with Santa Claus on the Ham radio, and St. Nick himself will be making an appearance.
