More than $50,000 dollars worth of damage has been done by vandals at Spruce Meadows Golf and Country Club.
Owner Ed Sodegren says sometime between says overnight last Thursday, a dozen golf carts were damaged while breaking spruce trees, flag poles and flower pots.
“If the carts are a write-off, carts are $6,000 a piece and if you take ten of them that are write-offs, that’s $60,000, and it’s going to cost $2,000 a tree to plant them, so that’s $30,000, so there could be as high as $100,000 damage.”
Sodegren says it’s going to take days to try and repair the damage done to the course, let alone replace the broken carts.
It will take even longer for the grass where they did doughnuts to grow back.
The golf course is offering up a reward for anyone who has information on the crime.
“There’s a $500 reward for the first information leading to the conviction of who did the damage. We have filed a police report; you can get a hold of Constable Dupont, and it’s also on Crime Stoppers.”
Any tips can be directed to the Grande Prairie RCMP and Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
