Many students around the region will have Thursday and Friday off school as the Mighty Peace Teachers’ Convention kicks off this week. On Thursday, over 1400 educators from across the region will spend two days learning about things like technology, curriculum, assessment and student engagement.
The first key note speaker for the event at Peace Wapiti Academy is called “Teachers are Superheroes”. Ron Canuel will speak on spreading stories of success through parents, ministry and the public.
The opening speaker for the Friday is all about musical therapy. Jennifer Buchanan will present on how music can help people learn.
Another highlight is the co-founder of Kindness Foundation of Canada. Brock Tully will be presenting to teachers on the Friday.
This is a teachers only event. On top of the two day event, a public screening of Elder in the Making will be shown at the school at 7:00 pm Thursday.
