City fields still too wet to be used

Due to the wet spring weather, all of the city’s grass sports fields are staying closed to the public. That includes easements and utility lots.

Gym and Sport Field Supervisor Lori Goodman-Wilson says the fields need to full dry out from the spring melt before they can be used. Otherwise, they can be damaged, making them unplayable for the rest of the season.

The City’s parks department will be monitoring conditions and will update when it’s ready to start its outdoor season.

Other seasonal facilities will be opening soon as well. The washrooms at Lions Park and the Centre 2000 site will be unlocked on May 1st, while the sani dump stations at South Bear Creek Park and Centre 2000 will open on May 19th. The washroom at Crystal Lake will open up on June 1st, which is when the spray parks at Lions Park and Muskoseepi Park will be turned back on.
