Kenney, Jean talking united party at Grande Prairie town hall

The leaders of Alberta’s PC and Wildrose parties will be in Grande Prairie Tuesday night. Jason Kenney and Brian Jean are hosting an “Alberta Can’t Wait” town hall at the Pomeroy Inn from 7 to 9 p.m.

They’ll be talking to residents about plans to create the new United Conservative Party. The pair have proposed a deal to merge their parties, and members will vote on July 22nd.

If approved, a new leader will be chosen in October. If the deal isn’t ratified, the PC and Wildrose parties will work out a non-competition agreement in time for the next provincial election.

Kenney and Jean agree that having conservatives united in a single party is crucial for beating the NDP in the next election. Both have said they will run for leadership.
