UPDATE: Internet, cell phone service restored in Fox Creek area

UPDATE: The Grande Prairie Fire Department says the issue was fixed as of 7 p.m. July 25th.

Internet and cell phone service is currently down in the Fox Creek area. Telus says a fibre optics cable around the Two Creeks area has been cut and crews are working on fixing the problem. The estimated time of repair is between 5 and 6 p.m.

The Grande Prairie Fire Department handles 9-1-1 calls for the town, and says roughly 700 customers have been affected. Landline phone don’t appear to have any issues and cells seems to be able to still make emergency calls.

Anyone needing to call 9-1-1 should try on a cell phone or a landline. If that doesn’t work, find the closest emergency services provider.
