County budget deliberations start Monday

The County of Grande Prairie is getting ready to put together its budget for 2018. Its total expenditures for 2017 were almost $132 million.

That includes $75.7 million for general operations and more than $56 million for capital expenditures. The tax rate increased by an average of $45 per household last year.

Funding requests to be reviewed include the Crosslink County Sportsplex and their ask for a new ice surfacer. The original was scheduled to be replaced in 2019 but due to mechanical issues they are looking for funding one year early.

Evergreen Park funding will also be assessed, as they have requested a grant of $800,000. Deliberations begin Monday and run until Wednesday.
