State of Local Emergency ended in Hythe

The State of Local Emergency has been lifted in Hythe. Officials say water in the area is now receding. Though extensive flooding did occur in the West Industrial Area and the Willowgrove subdivision.

David Olinger with GPREP says they will continue to monitor the situation as temperatures are expected to rise this week.

“I’m also seeing that the wind is whipping up. That will help dry things up but of course it will also melt the snow. So, this next week will also be a critical week.”

The State of Local Emergency was declared by the Village Council Friday night. Pumps were deployed throughout the weekend but have now been turned off.

The water has also receded in Sexsmith. Sandbags continue to be in place at key points around the area.
