Heavy police presence reported near two local schools

All staff and students are safe after Maude Clifford Public School in Grande Prairie was put on hold and secure.

At around 10:56 a.m. on Monday morning, people at the school posted on Twitter that it was being put on hold and secure because officers were on scene investigating something that happened in the area.

The hold and secure was removed around 11:18 that same morning. 2Day FM has also seen reports of police near St. Patrick School but that building is currently closed for renovations.

It is still unclear as to why officers were at the schools but RCMP Sergeant Shawn Graham says the situation was not related to the school or the students.
