UPDATE: 100 Avenue expected to open by the end of October

UPDATE: City Representative Monty Haughian says all the paving on 100 Avenue has been completed and the road should be open by the 27 but he says that date could change due to weather conditions.

People in Grande Prairie still aren’t able to drive on 100 Avenue. The downtown rehabilitation project started back in May and was supposed to be finished by October 15. That date has now been pushed back to the 27th.

City Representative Monty Haughian says adding extra water services and elevating part of the roadway to help with storm runoff are the reason for the delay.

Before they can open the road, the final layer of pavement needs to be added. Haughian says that should take place in the next day or to.

He says trees and bushes and other finishing touches are expected to be added next week. Line marking and road signs will be added after that.
