Two moose illegally killed in Moonshine Lake Provincial Park

The public is being asked for its help in a case of poaching. Alberta Parks says two moose were illegally shot and left in Moonshine Lake Provincial Park west of Spirit River on October 10th. The first animal was found in the day-use area early in the morning.

“A cow moose had vehicle tracks leading up to it, but the suspects did not attempt to recover the carcass. The second animal, discovered by conservation officers the next day, is believed to have been shot at, fled down a trail and was tracked on foot for a short distance, but was also not recovered.”

Conservation officers believe they are looking for two suspects. Anyone with information on the case is urged to call the anonymous Report-A-Poacher line at 1-800-642-3800.
