Grande Prairie saw more than 18 centimetres of snowfall Saturday, smashing through two 69-year-old weather records. In total, the airport recorded 18.3 centimetres, far surpassing the 10.2 centimetres that fell on December 29, 1949.
A total of 10.2 millimetres of precipitation was also recorded that day 69 years ago, passed by the 15.3 millimetres seen Saturday. A snowfall warning was issued by Environment Canada Friday afternoon, predicting between 10 and 20 centimetres of snow by Sunday morning.
