Mail stolen from community mailbox south of Grande Prairie

Mail has been stolen from a Canada Post community mail box south of the city.

Someone broke into the box just off of Highway 40 near Sunrise Estates sometime overnight Saturday, but it’s not clear what mail was taken yet.

As it’s close to the holidays, police believe the thieves may have been looking for money being sent.

RCMP urges friends and family not to send cash in the mail for this reason.

Anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area at the time, or is missing mail from that mail box, is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
