Grande Prairie active COVID-19 cases rise to 160

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the City of Grande Prairie has risen back up to 160. Over the past 24 hours, 30 new cases were reported, along with five recoveries.

In the County of Grande Prairie, 11 new cases were reported as well as three recoveries, for an active case count of 92. These numbers do not include the results of rapid tests.

Across Alberta, the province reported a one-day record of new cases for the second day in a row at 4,869 with a positivity rate of 39.5 per cent. Three new deaths were reported, all in the Calgary zone.

The government also reported Thursday that more than one million Albertans have received a COVID-19 booster shot. The percentage of people in the city who are considered fully immunized with two shots is now 70.9 per cent for those 12 years old and up.

In the central/east part of the County of Grande Prairie, that rate is 69.7 per cent, dropping to 64.7 per cent in the Beaverlodge/West County area.
