Alberta’s Energy Minister and Dunvegan-Central Peace-Notley MLA Marg McCuaig-Boyd gave her first speech to members of the oil and gas industry in Calgary earlier this week. McCuaig-Boyd delivered the opening address at the Global Petroleum Show in Calgary, which hosts more than 50,000Â attendees from around the world.
During her brief speech she touched on how the new NDP government plans to approach resource development.
“Alberta service, manufacturing, and technology companies are among the most forward thinking in the world, with a lot to offer the industry when it comes innovate gas and oil development, clean technologies, and environmental management. That’s the kind of thinking we want to encourage.”
She added that the Notley government wants to make the transition to an NDP style of resource development as smooth as possible.
“We are working hard to bring stability to the economy as we implement the plans. At the heart of those plans is our promise to Albertans to increase prosperity, to create opportunities for good jobs, and to build a diversified economy that benefits everyone.”
McCuaig-Boyd also addressed the uncertainty that currently exists in the province because of low oil prices and the election of a new government, assuring the audience that Alberta is still a great place to invest.
