Highway 43 is closed in both directions just west of Valleyview as fire crews are on scene battling a wildfire in the area.
According to Alberta 511, the highway is closed between Range Road 230 and Range Road 235, with a detour set up using Township Road 700. Sturgeon Lake Creek Nation has also posted a precautionary wildfire notice to its members. A post on Facebook says a wildfire has been reported on Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, and the administration is asking residents in the area to keep an eye out for any developments.
