City, County look for input on future road network

The City and County of Grande Prairie are looking for the publics input on a road network that will be put in south of the Grande Prairie Airport in the future. The municipalities are more specifically looking at the road and intersection development on the land south of 100 Avenue, between Range Road 64 and 65.

Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton getting the communities input on the future road network is a positive undertaking for the region.

“Working on this joint initiative with the County of Grande Prairie to gather public input and ensure the development of a robust road network supports our strategic priorities of Engaging Relationships and Innovative Efficiencies and Economic Readiness,” Clayton says. “Together, we aim to create an efficient and safe transportation system that caters to both of our community’s needs.”

Reeve Bob Marshall says the county and city will use the public feedback and develop recommendations for the project that will help not only better the region but also build the economy.

“Whether you live in the County or the City, a safe and useful road network is important to all residents and visitors,” Marshall says. “We look forward to hearing what is important to residents.”

The open house will be held on Thursday, June 15th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion in Muskoseepi Park.

An online survey is also available for residents to fill out and will be open until June 30th. McElhanney Ltd. has been retained by the municipalities to oversee the project, including gathering feedback from the public and other stakeholders.
