Grande Prairie RCMP arrest two during proactive downtown patrols

The Grande Prairie RCMP has arrested a pair of men in connection with a trespassing incident that occurred in October.

According to police, at around 3:00 a.m. on October 7th, officers were conducting proactive patrols throughout the downtown core before observing two individuals allegedly trespassing on a commercial property.

An investigation followed shortly after and led to the arrest of two and the seizure of numerous items including- drug trafficking paraphernalia, break-in tools, 15 grams of suspected fentanyl, and a can of bear mace.

RCMP Operations Officer Inspector Mark MacDougald says the bust marks another direct benefit of the GP RCMP’s continued proactive enforcement initiative.

The results of this proactive enforcement initiative is another example of targeted crime reduction strategies the Grande Prairie Detachment utilizes in collaboration with business owners, stakeholders, and enforcement partners,” he says. “Property crime such as this cause personal hardship to the business owners with direct impacts to the greater community.” 

22-year-old Dameon Kruger, and 42-year-old Cameron Pike, both from Grande Prairie now face several charges in relation to the incident. Kruger was arrested on three outstanding warrants, while Pike now faces six counts of failure to comply with release order, two counts of unlawful possession of identity documents, and one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl.

Both men are scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie.
