Volunteer Day Breakfast, award ceremony to spotlight those who give back

The annual International Volunteer Day Celebration Breakfast is being held later this week to recognize those who give back to the community.

Volunteers, community organizations, and supporters of local volunteerism are invited to attend the celebration put on by the City of Grande Prairie and the Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations.

Several awards are up for grabs this year, including two from the City of Grande Prairie, and two from GP-RAVO.

The city’s George Repka Outstanding Achievement Award will recognize individuals who have made a “major contribution” to the recreation, culture, or social services sectors. The Bill Bowes Volunteer Organization of the Year Award will recognize organizations and foundations that have contributed to the community through volunteerism, and “exemplary community development” while having a direct impact on the residents of Grande Prairie.

The event starts at 7:00 a.m. on December 5th at the Golden Age Centre.
