City of GP encouraging local youths to sign up for free transit program

The City of Grande Prairie is urging local youths to sign up for their Youth SUPERPASS which allows free transit for young residents.

According to the city, cards have already been distributed through schools, but it’s not too late for young people under the age of 18 to sign up.

Officials say signing up is easy. To confirm their age, a young person needs to register their card online or in person at City Hall with a valid ID. Additionally, SUPERPASS cards are not restricted to students enrolled with the public or catholic schools, and include private and homeschool students, as well as anyone under 18 who is not attending school.

Signing up for your first SUPERPASS will not carry any fees, and cards will expire at the end of the year you turn 18.

Individual passes aren’t the only option either. The city also offers “Class Passes” for groups of youth travelling throughout the city; however, the Class Pass must be requested and used by at least one paying adult, who will be accompanying the group while travelling on city buses.

Adults looking to take advantage of the Class Pass program can register online, through 3-1-1, or by sending an email to the city with their request.
