County Enforcement Services hosting two crime prevention town halls

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Enforcement Services will host two town halls to give residents a chance to talk about crime prevention in the Grande Prairie area.

The first town hall is scheduled for January 14th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Beaverlodge Community Centre, and the second is scheduled two days later from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Wellington Resource Centre in Clairmont.

Officials say the events highlight the council’s commitment to community wellness and safety as part of the ongoing crime prevention plan that includes the appointment of Corrine James as the county’s first Community Safety Coordinator.

I look forward to engaging with residents and business owners to better understand how we can help enhance their crime prevention efforts,” the new coordinator says.

During the events, participants will get the chance to connect with Kyle Palfy, the County’s new Enforcement Services Superintendent, and Community Services General Manager Lee Brachmann, along with several members of the county RCMP.

Booths hosted by local locksmiths, property security experts, and surveillance providers will also be in attendance to provide residents with some insights into their respective fields.

Interested residents can complete an online survey ahead of the event to share their needs and concerns regarding rural crime and prevention online on the county’s website.
