Province of Alberta indicates more infrastructure projects on the way for numerous communities, Grande Prairie

The Province of Alberta completed and began construction on hundreds of infrastructure projects across the province in 2024, including some in Grande Prairie.

According to the province, collaborative work with industry, schools, Alberta Health, and municipalities was completed throughout the past year to deliver the new, modernized public facilities that house several programs and services that many Albertans rely on.

Officials say 2024 saw a focus on further developing relationships with partners across a variety of trades, specialties, and sectors, and the province maintains 2025 will see continued work through several engagement opportunities to maximize collaboration between industry and the Alberta government.

In 2024, 10 schools were built around the province, allowing for nearly 10,000 students in nine communities including Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, and others. The province also announced last September a generational commitment of $8.6 billion to build schools over the next three years.

Several government facility projects were completed in several communities including a new $203 million Justice Centre in Red Deer, providing 12 courtrooms to the community when it officially opens in early 2025.

A further 20 new government facility projects are underway throughout the province including recovery community facilities in Grande Prairie and Edmonton.
